Earlier this year, Magic Johnson acquired ownership rights in the Washington Commanders. Magic called it a ‘dream come true’ for him, as he listed out the plans he has with the team as well as the local community.

While the NBA legend remains true to his words, his team has had a rather disappointing run. The Commanders are currently on a three-game losing streak which has prompted a response from Josh Harris, majority owner of the team. The Commanders are currently at the bottom of the NFC East table with four wins and eight losses. Amidst their three-game losing streak, Harris spoke with the Washington Post where he said that there is a lot of pressure on his athletes. The entrepreneur said that these things are part of the game, however, the team needed to understand that patience and hard work are the only way forward. Magic reposted the WaPo article on his X profile, saying, “Commanders Majority Owner Josh Harris is 100% right about preaching patience and building the franchise up the right way!”

Magic Johnson is now a billionaire

The NBA now boasts three athletes to have the esteemed billionaire status. What’s even more impressive is that there is only one other athlete who has reached this mark outside of the NBA. Golf legend Tiger Woods is the only other athlete apart from Magic, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James to attain this special status.

While Jordan was the NBA’s first athlete to reach the mark, Magic, after decades of smart business investments was the latest to join this list.
