The day Magic Johnson predicted finally arrived! After a reunion and a Lakers-style celebration, Johnson heaped praise upon Hall of Famer Michael Cooper and the iconic Jerry West, also known as ‘The Logo.’ The 5x NBA champion and his wife, Cookie Johnson, were dressed to impress as they attended the Hall of Fame event in Springfield. Johnson, a presenter for both NBA legends, is a close friend of Cooper and has long been one of his most vocal advocates, stating that Cooper is truly deserving of this honor.

Emotional about his friend’s greatest achievement, the NBA legend, known for his active social presence, finally made a heartwarming Instagram post to congratulate Cooper. “Michael Cooper your acceptance speech was the highlight of tonight! I’m so proud of you and everything that you stand for, as both a basketball player and a human being! I was so happy to be one of the three people to help induct you into the Hall of Fame, along with Coach Pat Riley and Lisa Leslie!” he wrote on IG along with an IG carousel post.

Cooper dedicated 12 precious years of his life to the league and uplifted those around him. The first slide had pictures of him and Cookie smilingly posing alongside Cooper and his wife. The second appeared to group photo.

Just ahead of the Hall of Fame ceremony, both Cooper and Johnson were seen partying alongside fans. Former basketball player Lisa Leslie joined the group as seen in the third slide.

And the fourth slide is a heartwarming picture of Johnson and Pat Riley sharing a hug. He also shared kind words for Lakers legend Jerry West.

Whether it’s Dominique Wilkins or Isiah Thomas, Cooper was never intimidated by his opponents. In his 12-year career with the Lakers, he was named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1987 and also made it to the All-Defensive Team eight times. Both Johnson and Cooper were presenters for Mr. West.

The Lakers legend is inducted into the Hall of Fame for the third time. This year, he was recognized for his work as an executive. Giving the spotlight to West’s son Jonnie West, Johnson further wrote, “I also have to shout out Jonnie West for being an excellent representation of not only his father, the late and great Jerry West, but his entire family. It was an honor to help induct Jerry West, alongside my Laker family, into his record 3rd Hall of Fame class!”

13 members were inducted into the Hall of Fame including, Walter Davis, Vince Carter, Seimone Augustus, Dick Barnett, Chauncey Billups,  and Michele Timms.
