Bob Marley was, without a doubt, one of the greatest musicians to have walked across the earth. Something which the musical biopic ‘Bob Marley: One Love’ has tried to capture. It hit theaters on Valentine’s Day this year and has received an overwhelming response from the fans. The latest addition to this fan list is Magic Johnson. The Los Angeles Lakers icon was recently on a movie date with wife Cookie Johnson. He described the experience as a fresh take on the reggae god.

“Cookie and I saw “One Love” about Bob Marley’s amazing life on our last movie date, and we really enjoyed it!” Magic Johnson posted on X. Further expressing his views on the movie, the NBA icon stated, “We saw him (Bob Marley) from a different perspective and learned how he inspired people worldwide through his music and great faith!”

However, this is not the first instance of an NBA star expressing his admiration for the reggae legend. Ahead of the musical biopic’s release, Klay Thompson had also stated the impact Marley had on his life. “Bob’s music and his influence have been a huge component of my career. His music has inspired me to cherish the love from my family, teammates and fighting through any adversary that comes my way,” Klay said in an Instagram post.

In fact, back in 2022, the Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II had credited his on-court happiness to Marley. “A lot of Bob Marley. A lot of Bob, lot of Bob. Sit in the room and just sit back and reflect, listen to Bob, try to be happy,” he stated in an interview. All of these instances showcase the impact Marley had as a person.
