The celebration is not yet over for the boys in blue or their owner, Magic Johnson. After their last victory in 2020, this is the eighth World Series championship for the Dodgers and 15th overall for the Lakers legend as a player and an owner. He even received a special gift in honor of the championship victory. While this precious item is meant to remind of the winning moment, Johnson would prefer to keep it hidden.

It’s a custom shoe, after all. Johnson’s business partner, Kyle Bell, gifted him a very special pair of custom-made Air Force Ones in blue and white colorways. It represents both the 2020 and 2024 wins of the Dodgers. While the left heel has 2020, the right heel has 2024 emblazoned on it. Rather than wearing them, he feels these sneakers will go right into his trophy case.

Expressing his gratitude, Johnson took to X to share a glimpse of the shoes and wrote, “Huge thank you to my business partner, Kyle Bell, for the incredible gift of custom-made Air Force Ones to celebrate our World Series Champion @Dodgers ! I love that the shoes feature both our 2020 and 2024 titles. I can’t even wear these, they are going straight into my trophy case! 🔥”

The Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees 7-6 in Game 5 to seal the title. The boys in blue made a stunning comeback from a five-run deficit to win the series 4-1 at Yankee Stadium. Magic Johnson made it to the stands almost every game.

“WORLD SERIES CHAMPS!!! @Dodgers,” he had cheered as Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers secured the title, second under Johnson. It was also the first time the Lakers legend was up on the podium after COVID-19 protocols had limited the celebrations in 2020. Fans had expressed their beliefs that Johnson had some magic in his hands considering all the success he has had with his teams. But for the 5x champion, it is all about love for the sports.

Magic Johnson’s inspiration as an owner of sports team

Johnson has ownership stakes in multiple sports teams, including the LA Sparks, LAFC, Washington Commanders, and Washington Spirit. While the business side does indeed boost Johnson’s net worth to $1.2 billion, this isn’t the only reason behind it. As an executive, he has worked harder to encourage the team. Through his initiatives, he wants to inspire people and make an impact in their lives.

“I love sports. I love to be in the ownership because it’s important that they see minorities in an ownership position. I love helping the athletes transition from their sport to hopefully business or whatever they want to do after their time being an athlete,” the Los Angeles Lakers legend Johnson said in a conversation with CBS Mornings.

As an owner of sports teams, he has always made a point to appear at games for the players. He was spotted with his wife, Cookie Johnson, at Dodgers games. As the Washington Spirit headed towards the NWSL Championship Game, he was among the first to cheer for the team. Unfortunately, the Orlando Pride beat the Spirit 1-0 to clinch the NWSL Championship. Regardless, Johnson now has 1 title from college, 5 in NBA, and 9 as an owner.
