Marcus Jordan is definitely not happy with his prized Trophy Room finishing last. The store is famous for two things. If one is delivering utterly gorgeous creations, the second is its connection with the Jordan brand and backdooring allegations. Despite Marcus’ numerous public denials, the store was ranked at the tail end, 25th, in the latest sneaker segment by Complex. Unimpressed by the rank after the boutique’s success, Marcus took a hilarious jab at the critic.

“Complex wild with them crusty a** rankings. 25 @brendandunne lol u a silly lil turd,” Marcus wrote, teasing the critic on X. The 33-year-old sure takes his business quite seriously. The two likely had a fallout in the past, which is why the critic, Brendan Dunne, quickly responded to Marcus’ remark. “Wait a minute Marcus I thought we were friends again,” Dunne wrote.

Marcus’ dissatisfaction is understandable. The store recently launched the dashing Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 Low OG in association with his father’s brand. The sneaker, embellished in red and black, was inspired by the Chicago Bulls legend’s 1984 Sports Illustrated Poster and 1986 Fleer Basketball rookie card.

The shoe was even touted as the “sneaker of the year” by some fans before the release. Both the “Home” and “Away” colorways received love from sneakerheads. Equally impressive have been the other releases.

The shoes likely would have had the opportunity to be the biggest hits if not for one contentious issue.

Why was Marcus Jordan’s Trophy Room snubbed from the top 10 sneaker collaborators?

Back in 2020, Marcus was accused of backdooring, which refers to secretly selling sneakers to a select group.

However, Michael Jordan‘s son has long denied his involvement in the issue. Even during an interview with Complex, which also featured Dunne, Marcus maintained the same.

“It’s still big, it still generates buzz, but the controversy from that one release in 2020 still colors the perception of the store,” Dunne wrote about the sneaker boutique. During the recent release of the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 Low, Marcus faced the allegations again. However, he shut down them down with the same humor.

Since its launch in 2017, Marcus has collaborated with his father’s Jordan Brand on more than five shoes, which would have been an absolute success if not for this blemish. This is probably the reason behind the Trophy Room getting the last spot in the list of top sneaker collaborators by Complex. The Jordans are almost never wrong about sneakers, but this one controversy caused trouble for Marcus’ Trophy Room.
