Matt Barnes’ twins are making a splash! Just a few days ago, the twins received D1 offers from the University of San Diego. They took to social media to express their gratitude. Both share the same love for basketball as their NBA father. However, the boys are well aware that one mistake could mean trouble! As their mother, Gloria Govan, remains firm with her one demand, the twins geared up for action in the Nike EYBL.

After Barnes and Gloria’s separation in 2016, the two have co-parented their twin sons. Both have established certain rules for their kids. One such rule is Gloria’s insistence that her twins balance life and their passion for the game the right way. Both Gloria and Matt Barnes are the biggest supporters and fans of their kids. Just recently, the former NBA player shared a post on his IG story about his twins’ latest game.

Coach Matt Barnes returned courtside to Riverview Park as his sons, Isaiah and Carter, suited up for Paul George Elite at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam, just as he did during their breakout debut last summer. While JL3 won the game this time, the Barnes twins notched up great performances too to lead their team.

Motivated by their father as well as the late legend Kobe Bryant, the twins have continued to elevate their game. While they continue to grind, they must keep their focus on their grades, too, as this is the license for their game. Earlier on the Sportsing podcast, the twins revealed that they must follow their mother’s one wish to continue playing. And that is maintaining good grades.

She says no grades, no sports. So grades come first,” one of the twins said. In their freshman season, Carter notched 11.8 points across 30 games while Isaiah averaged 13.3 points across 28 games. Back in 2021, the mother of two married Barnes’ former Los Angeles Lakers teammate, Derek Fisher. Their stepfather is also the coach for Crespi Carmelite High School and guides the twins, while their mother ensures that they maintain strong academic performance.

This isn’t the only rule their mother has for them. During the podcast, the two brothers had a hilarious response to the host’s question about whether they would want to attend different colleges.

Matt Barnes’ twins admit to having “no choice” when it comes to each other

One of the twins was quick to add that they have no option but to stick with each other for college. Their mother seemed impressed with their response. “Do we have a choice? I don’t think,” one of the twins said. It likely intrigued the host, who then went on to probe if it was only Gloria’s decision. That is when both Isaiah and Carter revealed that neither of their parents wishes for them to separate and go to different colleges. Both parents just don’t want us to split up, and we’re better together anyway, like it’s fine,”  Isaiah said.

The mother of two explained that she would prefer the two to stay together, as they will have to split eventually after college. She also added that there was no pressure on them to decide on their colleges. The conversation also prompted one of the twins, Carter, to explain that they themselves don’t wish to separate anytime soon either.

Carter joked about the time his twin brother was sick and the two were apart for more than a week. “I’ve gone through it before, like he got sick and I was apart from him for like a week. 10 days, really, I don’t like this. This don’t suit me, bro, who am I supposed to mess with?” he said.

He was likely referring to the time when Isaiah had an appendectomy after being rushed to the hospital with severe stomach pain. All in all, it seems the twins share the same wish as their parents, which is to follow each other to the same college.
