New York great Carmelo Anthony came up with a Knicks-themed party for his daughter. The 7-year-old was seen sporting her father’s No. 7 jersey while cutting a basketball and Knicks-themed birthday cake. While fans are aware of his 17-year-old son Kiyan as he’s making waves in the basketball world, Melo’s daughter caught a lot of people by surprise. As the adorable photos from the party spread across the internet, fans had more questions than answers due to the revelation of Melo’s second child. The news actually made headlines back in 2017.

Anthony’s daughter, Genesis Harlow Anthony, was born to Mia Angel Burks in 2017. Fans who hadn’t forgotten about Genesis poured out their love for the 7-year-old, who paid the most adorable homage to her dad. The post by The Shade Room is captioned, “Aww! 🧡 🏀#CarmeloAnthony and #Miaburks celebrated their daughter Genesis’ 7th birthday! 🥳 Genesis was even rocking her dad’s jersey number! The clip shows the girl celebrating the day with her parents and friends. After not having publicly claimed Genesis earlier, Anthony had mentioned his daughter for the first time in a clip shared during his retirement, which was a nod to his NBA career.

Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time she paid tribute to her dad. A picture of 5-year-old Genesis mimicking her dad’s pouting face from a Slam Magazine cover went viral as well. She was also wearing a T-shirt featuring Melo’s expression then. Nonetheless, the post raised questions among fans.

Carmelo Anthony’s daughter has made headlines before

As mentioned earlier, the news broke nearly 7 years ago. However, since then, nothing has surfaced. Not so surprisingly, many have forgotten about it. One of the comments read, “To confirm.. we’re all finding out about his other kid today ? 👀” while another fan wrote, “Melo got another kid???” “I’m today years old figuring out melo had another kid.” No, actually, the former Denver Nuggets star revealed his daughter to the world during his retirement post in 2023.

Luckily, one of the fans did their research before commenting on the post. Hail Google! The fan wrote, “well he revealed it many years ago which made headlines and sparked rumors him and Lala relationship was over. Google.”

Many openly expressed their doubt about how this might have been the reason for Carmelo Anthony and La La’s separation. During an appearance on The Jason Lee show, La La shared how it was tough for her and Kiyan when the New York Knicks legend’s infidelity news surfaced. “Me just now realizing why he and LaLa really ain’t together….” Another comment read. Some even went on to support Anthony in getting a divorce. 

The NBA legend married La La Anthony in 2010. The two had a son, Kiyan, who was born in 2007. After accusing Anthony of infidelity, La La Anthony divorced the NBA star in 2021. Nonetheless, the two have done a great job in raising Kiyan as he is one of the standout players from his class. He even joined his dad in Paris for the Olympics after spending some time with his mother.
