The wait is over! It’s the Gala day and like every year, A-list celebrities reached the Metropolitan Museum of Art decked up in their most exquisite custom creations. And so have Dwyane Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union. As expected, the power couple brought their high fashion for the evening. Paying homage to this year’s dress code, ‘the Garden of Time,’ Wade wore his custom Versace while the 51-year-old actress mesmerized with her Michael Kors look.

The two unique custom ensembles also had subtle hints of florals dominating the red carpet this year. Let’s take a closer look at the power couple’s red-carpet fashion.

The Bring It On actress, along with her stylist Thomas Christos Kikis, decided to draw inspiration from one of the most important elements of the garden: water, for her dress.

Union exuded gilded glamour in her high-neck Michael Kors gown with hand-embroidered sequins resembling mermaids scaled in ombré patterns of different hues, such as lilac to teal blue. The embroidery took the meticulous attention of 12 artisans and 9,500 hours to complete.

Her stylist stated that while Union was already in love with her outfit, all he needed was the Miami Heat legend’s approval. “If I get Dwyane’s stamp of approval… If she walks out of the room and he has some very reactive comment, then I know I’m doing a good job,” Kikis said. During a conversation at the event, Union shared that it took 63 days to complete the entire beading process of her Met Gala. Quite impressive!

For the stunning outfit, she also chose equally lavish jewelry. She wore an Elsa Peretti Starfish brooch and paired it with a platinum bracelet studded with green tourmaline and diamonds. Hair slicked back in a bun with Tiffany & Co. star statement drop earrings, this is a modern mermaid who has a gorgeous prince by her side.

Dwyane Wade looks dapper in Versace

Previously, in an Instagram story, the 3x NBA champ hinted that he is working out to get rid of his love handles for the Met Gala look. “Project: Lose the Love Handles Getting ready for May Met Gala,” Wade wrote along with sharing a selfie of him working out at the gym.

Many may have expected the 42-year-old to flaunt his abs for the event, reminiscent of his 2022 Met Gala appearance. However, he chose an ensemble that not only complemented his wife but also a nod to the event’s theme.

While speaking of the theme, Dwyane Wade also placed a cute request as he said, “Yeah, I mean, first of all, we just try to listen to the theme and in the theme we try to find our individuality but also to understand we coming together. And so for me I just want to be a beautiful flower in the garden,” Wade said during an interview at the event. He further asked, “Can I be that for one night?”

Well, true to his words, he wore a lilac Versace suit with a white top and a shimmering Cartier necklace on the right and paired it with black shoes. Showing his appreciation, Wade shared a clip of his outfit on his Instagram and wrote, “The reawakening, @cartier Met Gala 2024 wearing @Versace.”
