Mother’s Day rolled around, and as always, people went all out to show love for the women who shaped their world. And yep, even basketball royalty wasn’t left out. Last year, it was Rakeem Christmas—the son of Jasmine Jordan and grandson of Michael Jordan—stealing hearts with his adorable handmade card. But this time, the spotlight was all on Jasmine herself. And let’s just say, she had a lot of love to share.
Michael Jordan’s daughter took to Instagram and posted a handful of sweet snaps with her son, pouring her heart out in a heartfelt message. “I love the month of May because of you, I love my mornings + sleepless nights because of you… I love being a mom but specifically your mom,” she wrote. And if that wasn’t sweet enough, she added that her son turned six on Sunday—and even got baptized on his birthday. “6yrs in the game and a lifetime to go 🌻 Happy Mother’s Day,” she concluded.
But Jasmine wasn’t the only one making the day count. Over on the timeline, Shaquille O’Neal’s ex-wife, Shaunie Henderson, also joined in the celebration. She shared a picture with her kids, keeping it simple and sweet: “My tribe, my joy. Being their mama is my greatest flex. Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful, strong, undefeated Mothers out there.”

Meanwhile, former NBA champ Matt Barnes’ son, Isaiah Barnes, showered some major love on his mom, Gloria Govan. The Crespi basketball star’s short message was loaded with feels, as he posted, “Happy mother’s day mom, I love you so much @glogovan,” with a bunch of happy memories tucked into a carousel of pictures. Adding to the tribute was the shared Instagram of Isaiah and his twin, Carter Barnes. They posted, “Happy Mother’s Day to the real MVP! Our literal Day ONE, our first coach, our forever hype woman… We love you more than we love trash talk and game days and that’s saying a lot.”
On top of that, legends like Stephen Jackson, Scottie Pippen, and Kendrick Perkins also dropped IG tributes, all pointing to one thing: their moms were the real MVPs who shaped their journey to the NBA.

Michael Jordan’s grandson was the MVP on last Mother’s Day
Whether it’s this May or the one before, the Jordan family never holds back when it comes to love. Last Mother’s Day, everyone—from Michael Jordan’s ex-wife Juanita to their kids Marcus and Jasmine—took to social media to share heartfelt messages. For them, it was not about big, flashy gestures, but the quiet, personal moments that must have struck a chord with anyone who’s ever celebrated the day.
But honestly, the show-stealer? Jasmine’s little boy, Rakeem. At just five years old, he had hearts melting everywhere. The kid put together a handmade card for his mom—and it wasn’t just scribbles and stickers. Nope, this was the kind of message that could bring an entire room to tears. Jasmine proudly posted it along with some adorable snaps of Rakeem, and the internet got a peek at how much thought he put into it.

“Dear Mommy, Thank you for tucking me in, picking me up and showing me how. Thank you for teaching me to do things on my own, and believing in me when I try. Thank you for hugging me and loving me and doing special things to make me happy… For being a wonderful mommy. Happy Mother’s day with Lots of Love,” read the card. You see, that wasn’t just a note—that was a tiny, handwritten love letter straight from the heart of a kid who clearly adores his mom.
Meanwhile, Jasmine also used her IG stories to spread some broader love. She gave a warm shoutout not just to moms, but to anyone stepping into a maternal role, especially those who might be missing their moms on the day. Her brother Marcus chimed in too, sending sweet IG stories for both his mom, Juanita, and his sister, Jasmine. So, Mother’s Day in the Jordan household isn’t just celebrated—it’s felt.
