Mistaking Ashton Kutcher for Jim Carrey, Gilbert Arenas Unapologetically Recounts Bizarre Encounter

Celebrity mix-ups are common recurrence! While their appearances are common in basketball, Gilbert Arenas recollects a moment when he mistook one celeb for another in a bizarre encounter. This mix-up occurred during a WNBA game between the Los Angeles Sparks and the Indiana Fever, where Arenas thought to have spotted Jim Carrey, only to realize it was Ashton Kutcher. Not the most obvious of mix-ups because among the many look-alikes in Hollywood, not many have compared these two. But Arenas remains unapologetic.

The former NBA pro detailed the encounter on Gil’s Arena, from when he saw Kutcher and Caitlin Clark at the Crypto.com Arena. “I hope he don’t get offended, but that’s just not my problem. When I saw him walk by the first time, I thought he was Jim Carrey. Oh sh*t, Jim had the old man’s brown jacket,” Arenas confessed.

Maybe Ashton could be compared to a young Carrey but the two have aged significantly now! Arenas first saw Ashton Kutcher when he joined the cast and played the role of Walden Schmidt on Two and a Half Men from 2011-2015. However, at that time, Kutcher was his younger self, and Arenas didn’t stay updated. “I didn’t get the update that he is about 15 years older now,” said Arenas.

Interestingly, both actors are related to sports in some way. While Jim Carrey had that famous basketball in The Cable Guy, Ashton Kutcher used to play football in high school and even coached his team. But Caitlin Clark gaining steam on the WNBA scene, the hard court is irresistible to him!

Ashton Kutcher made a rare punlic family appearance along with his wife, Mila Kunis, and their two children, at the Indiana Fever vs Los Angeles Sparks game on May 24. He could be seen wearing a brown jacket and a University of Iowa cap to showcase his support for Caitlin Clark, who went to the same college as him. After the match, the family shared a heartwarming moment where they exchanged a few words, followed by a few clicks with Clark.

During a press conference, the 2x Naismith Player of the Year spoke about the actor and his family’s support for her. “He was encouraging me the whole game, so it was fun to have him courtside.” She also added that Kutcher “knows ball”, and hinted about a possible one-on-one. In that particular game where the Fever won, Clark was on fire! The Fever won their first game of the season and Clark even high-fived Kutcher after her first 3-pointer.
