One of the main factors, that makes fans think Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player ever, is his consistency. The Chicago Bulls legend was consistently dominant on the court, and his opponents had no chance against him. This led to him winning the prestigious ‘Marca Legend’ award from the Spanish newspaper Marca. Superstars like Rafael Nadal, Cristiano Ronaldo, and others have also achieved this honor for their consistent achievements in their own sports.

According to Europe Press, 42-year-old Sandra Sánchez Jaime is soon to become the next athlete to earn this honor, as it was recently announced that the gold medal winner at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be given this award at her birthplace, Talavera de la Reina, on January 24.

“This award is the first to be awarded to martial arts, it is not just putting the karate name on the Marca Legend award. For this reason, I am doubly proud of what we have achieved,” said Sandra Sánchez.
Michael Jordan won this award in 1997 and Ronaldo won it in 2019. Now, the retired Karateka, Sandra Sánchez is set to receive this later this month. Apart from her gold medal win at the Olympics, she has won the gold medal in the women’s individual kata event at the World Karate Championships twice.
However, this doesn’t come close to her almost unbreakable record of winning the gold medal in the European Karate Championships for seven years in a row. She did all three in 2021, marking it as one of the most dominant and successful years of any professional Karateka in history.
