It’s a rare occurrence for players to openly draw comparisons between their teammates and basketball legends. However, a recent instance has caught the attention of basketball enthusiasts worldwide. Oklahoma City Thunder player took a moment to draw an intriguing parallel between one of his teammates and the iconic 6-time NBA champion, Michael Jordan.

Tre’shaun Albert Mann draws a bold comparison of teammate to Michael Jordan

What makes this comparison stand out is not just its association with a basketball legend but the classy and respectful manner in which it was described. After the recent display of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s game, his teammate Tre Mann took to X and wrote, God knew how much I loved MJ growing up so he put me on a team with him.”

Most likely it was Alexander’s impressive display at the latest game that inspired the comment. Do you agree with him? While Tre Mann’s claims of Alexander being similar to Jordan might be up for debate, the SEC tournament MVP’s impressive performance is not. His clutch performance was the highlight of their game against the Denver Nuggets. His turnaround jumper with just one second remaining on the clock propelled the Oklahoma City Thunder to a remarkable comeback victory of 118-117. With the defeat, the Thunder were also able to break the  Denver Nuggets‘ three-game winning streak.

Previously, Alexander was the focal point during the pre-season for his willingness to explore the off-ball role. This strategic shift is intriguing given his impressive performance last season, where he spearheaded the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 40-42 record.

Drawing parallels to basketball legend Michael Jordan, Alexander drew inspiration from Jordan’s learning of Phil Jackson’s triangle offense during his playing days.

Talking about ‘The Last Dance’ series, he said, “I don’t know if you saw ‘The Last Dance’ documentary, but there’s a point in Michael Jordan’s career where he had to learn the triangle offense and playing (without) the ball in his hands 24/7.” He added, “So if Michael Jordan has to do it, I definitely have to do it.”
