NBA Veteran Defends ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, Blasts Jason Whitlock With Stinging Claim

The Jason Whitlock and Stephen A. Smith saga has been a burning topic over the past few days. Both sides have been taking shots at one another, making it an entertaining debate on the internet. However, there are some who are more invested in it than others. NBA veteran Eddie Johnson is one of those people.

After Stephen A. and Whitlock’s most recent comments, Johnson took the opportunity to slam the popular podcaster for his opinion about the media veteran.

Whitlock lashed out at Stephen A., questioning the legitimacy of the points he makes as a journalist for one of the biggest networks in the world. Agitated by the reaction, Johnson quoted his post on X, to give him a taste of reality.

Johnson posted, “Let me help.@stephenasmith is the face of ESPN and he does agreat job. What are you the face of? Curious”. Whitlock had posted, “Stephen A Smith, the self-proclaimed face of ESPN, embarrassed himself and ESPN last night. He vows to never say my name again. No problem. He doesn’t have to say my name to explain the hard-to-believe stories in his “memoir.”

He further questioned the authenticity of the stories that Stephen A. had written about in his book. “Amazed seemingly no media outlet in the country is interested in why the face of ESPN tells so many farfetched stories about himself in a book. Make it make sense, “, Whitlock continued.

 

The beef between the two individuals isn’t exactly a new thing. They’ve been in the crosshairs of one another for a very long time. Their feud stems from Whitlock alleging that Stephen A is an ‘industry plant’ and that people who want to push a narrative through him have placed at higher positions in the media business him. Whitlock also often questions his game knowledge and the ability to break down strategies before speaking on them. After Whitlock’s recent comment, Stephen A responded on his show.

Stephen A went on to call him a “devil,” and asked people to protect their “soul” when he’s around.
