Recently, a video of Coach Sanders’ heartwarming speech has been circulating on the internet. Along with numerous fans and aspiring athletes, his speech even managed to touch the 15x All-Star’s heart.

He said, “What you told your mama you’re going to do, what you told your siblings you was gonna get. I believe you’re better than that. Show us all today. Own it for you. That you better than that.”

Furthermore, the post uploaded by Sanders also had an inspiring caption. It read, “Be better than you were yesterday!… Don’t wait until the conclusion of the matter to reconcile with yourself that ‘You’re Better Than That.'” Inspired by his speech, the Big Aristotle shared the post on his IG story. 

Just like the big Diesel overcame all the hurdles and made his dreams come true. Not only his own dreams, but he made sure he fulfilled his mother’s wishes as well.

The 4x NBA champion’s parents were very strict about his academics and grades. O’Neal’s mother, Lucille O’Neal, was upset over his decision to drop out of Louisiana State University for the NBA. Nevertheless, the player had tremendous success in the NBA as well as in his academics.

He promised his parents that he would come back and complete his education. And he kept his promise. In the year 2000, the Los Angeles Lakers legend finished his bachelor’s degree at LSU. Then he went on to pursue his MBA from the University of Phoenix. Well, the athlete also finished his doctorate in education from Barry University in Miami. He is indeed a legend!
