Shaquille O’Neal has handpicked very few potential superstar centers from the modern NBA for his ‘Big Man Alliance’ list. Alongside himself, the list contains some of the best big men in NBA history, such as Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, and more. Nikola Jokić and Joel Embiid are the only two centers from the modern NBA to get that honor. He has added two more names to this list now, which might prove to be controversial. However, it is not surprising to see Shaq advocate for the young stars.

On Trae Young’s From The Point podcast for Bleacher Report, the Hawks guard questioned Shaq about any new entries into his big-man list. After Embiid, Shaq believes Bol Bol has a good chance, but he thinks the Suns’ star is “lazy as hell”. Many might not agree with this, but the 4x NBA champion justified it.

Shaq said, “People tried to jump on me when they said I was comparing him and Wemby. I’m not comparing him and Wemby. Like I tell Charles and Reggie all the time, ‘Relax’. Wemby did something and he is 7’5…but he wasn’t the first to do it. Bol Bol was the first seven-foot guy…to do it with style.”

Shaq added Wembanyama to the list as well, but it looks like he has Bol Bol ahead of him. Shaq also revealed that he had coached the Suns center in a game. He told Young, I coached him one game for AAU. I had him doing stuff I’ve never seen a guy his size can do it. That’s why I know firsthand what he can do, but he just doesn’t get out and do it.” Shaq’s always been a big fan of Bol.

Shaquille O’Neal will support Bol Bol whatsoever

This is not the first time the 4x champion has advocated for Bol Bol. He did not hesitate to go against Pacers legend Reggie Miller last year. The famous shooter sided with Wembanyama and Shaq did not entertain it. To stand strong on his point once again, he shared, You can yell all you want. I stand on what I said. Bol Bol just don’t play hard, that’s all.”

Shaq is just trying to emphasize that Bol Bol was the first fluid 7-foot center. He shared previously on TNT, “If you listen to what I said, I said you guys are acting like Wemby is the first 7-foot-5 player that dribble coast to coast, put it between his legs and shot a three…Bol Bol is the first.” There are only four centers from the current NBA that Shaq is willing to put in his ‘Big Man Alliance list’. It’s Jokic, Embiid, Wembanyama and Bol Bol.
