Till the end of time, the Michael Jordan and LeBron James GOAT debate would never reach its conclusion. One was responsible for changing the game back in the day, and the other took the mantle and is the undisputed top scorer. The debate once again came to light thanks to the Lakers‘ superstar heroics at the Paris Olympics. From leading the entire contingent by being the flag bearer to leading the USA team on the court. It was certainly the effect that former star Terrence Ross had on him.

LeBron to me now is the GOAT. I don’t know how you put Jordan over if Jordan would have done what he was doing for 20 years.” A fan on X shared the clip from the former Slam Dunk champion live stream. Stating LeBron James has always been in his prime while Michael Jordan did regress over time. “And the second time he came back, he was not the same player. LeBron has literally been at his peak his entire career. I mean, he just gets older, but he’s still as effective as he’s always been.”

In the beginning, he highlighted the Paris 2024 performance, where the Akron native truly shone. Before the final, LeBron was leading the team in points, assists, and rebounds. After a quiet few matches, Stephen Curry came to the party and took over King James in points per game. The Warriors star ended the campaign with 14.8 while the MVP of men’s basketball finished with 14.2 points.

Previously too on his social media, Ross called LeBron James the GOAT over Michael Jordan. When he won the championship in 2020 and became the only player in the league history to win Finals MVP with three different teams.

Is the GOAT debate truly over between Michael Jordan and LeBron James?

Even though the Chicago Bulls legend might have produced a lesser number towards the end of his career, he still has averaged more. With 30.1 points to his name, ahead of 4x NBA champion with 27.1 points. But the interesting stat here is that King James averaged less than 25 points only once that too in his rookie season.

The chosen one also has a lead over Michael Jordan in terms of assists and rebounds. 7.5 over 6.2 rebounds and 7.4 assists over 5,3; thus, LeBron also created a lead close to double the number of overall assists. While Ross might not think that MJ’s stats at the end were worthy enough for debate, some former and current stars feel Washington Wizards Jordan was still a menace.

Rasheed Wallace and DeMar DeRozan previously stated that even though His Airness wasn’t as athletic as before, he still found ways to score. Because he was able to score more than 20 points on average at the age of 38 and 39. But LeBron James has comfortably outscored by averaging 28.9 and 25.7. With him being 40 during the season this year, there is a chance that he doesn’t slow down. Is it enough for people to crown him the GOAT?
