When it comes to pulling off a stunning look, no one does it better than NBA icon Shaquille O’Neal. The Los Angeles Lakers legend’s dress code is something that will be unbeaten for ages. Yet, it’s very hard to believe that there is a dark reason of “insecurity” behind this that has helped the 51-year-old to dress in a versatile manner. However, over the past few years, society has changed and the acceptance has become wider. One such is an incident that Shaq encountered in his recent fundraiser, ‘The Event’. 

A famous music duo who joined O’Neal for his event shared a funny incident that they experienced at a Las Vegas hotel. Let’s take a look at the “beautiful”, yet hilarious moment.

Growing up, outside the basketball world, Shaq’s humongous physique was rarely appreciated. Rather, he was trolled and made fun of due to it. However, things have changed a lot now as people have started to admire the 7ft giant. One of them was none other than the famous music group, Dan + Shay. 

The two talented singers joined the fundraiser alongside Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, and a few more artists to put on a show. The highlight was, however, at the MGM hotel they stayed at. 

As per reports from People, Shay Mooney, who received his clothes from dry cleaning, mistakenly got Shaq’s clothes, which he believes to be “17 times” his size. Mooney detailed that he opened a bag and found a black dress which he thought was a T-shirt. 

Later, to his surprise, it was actually a pair of boxers that he mistakenly assumed was a T-shirt. The singer hilariously added, “Me, Dan [Smyers], and several of our friends could have fit inside of [the dress]”.

Jokes apart, Mooney credited Shaq for choosing a unique costume. He shared, “It was beautiful. It was stunning, and I’m pretty sure it was Shaquille O’Neal’s.”

Why did Shaq dress like a woman as a teenager? 

Shaq had a pretty tough childhood only because of his huge physique. It was both a blessing and a bane for him. People either made fun of his height or wouldn’t believe his age which made him feel disrespected. 

During Halloween, people would mock Shaq with questions like, “You too big to be trick-or-treating, ain’t you?”. To escape from this, the LA legend decided to dress like a woman sometimes. He was doing this because he felt it was a good way for him to hide his insecurities. The 2000 MVP shared, “I would put on a wig and ugly lipstick, pretend I had these gigantic breasts”.
