Draymond Green recently made headlines, and surprisingly, it wasn’t about an on-court encounter with another player this time. Green attended LeBron James‘ 39th birthday celebration amidst his suspension from the league. Fans on the internet criticized his recent appearance, but Robert Horry has come up to his defense.

Robert Horry defends Draymond Green

Horry said, “He wanted to go see LeBron beat the record”, and that shouldn’t be anybody’s business. The 7x NBA champion was also asked about his opinion on whether the two will ever play together since there’s an established brotherhood between them. Horry said, “I don’t think they’ll play together. I don’t see it happening.” Horry’s panel doubled down on the people who were badmouthing Green for showing up at his friend’s birthday.

They all agreed that while he is suspended from the league, this doesn’t mean that he can’t enjoy life or go out to see his friend on his birthday. Green and LeBron share a great relationship and often speak highly of one another. The 4x NBA champion celebrated his 39th at Hyde Sunset in Los Angeles and the party was attended by some of the biggest names in the world, who are also close friends of the LA Lakers superstar.

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z attended the party with superstar Beyonce. Another iconic rapper, 2 Chainz was also in attendance, as well as actor Don Cheadle. Green showed up to the bash in flashy attire alongside LeBron’s Lakers teammate Anthony Davis.

Some fans on the internet questioned Green’s intention and dedication toward his team after his appearance. Most of the comments criticizing Green were about his ignorance of the suspension he was put into. But like Horry, a section of hoop fans have also defended Green by saying, “What’s the problem? Draymond is suspended from the team, not from life. They are friends. This is a terrible headline.”

Horry closed the segment by stating that Green can say, about going outside and socializing with friends, “It’s part of my therapy session.” After all, it doesn’t make sense that fans want to restrict the 33-year-old from doing anything outside the court.
