Oakley playing with both the stars was the reason why Garnett asked him this question. “You have seen both of the guys practice,” explained Garnett. After all, Oakley also spent a few seasons at the turn of the century playing alongside VC.

So, Oakley indirectly picked Michael Jordan by saying he has never seen Vince Carter dunk from the free-throw line. But this was proven wrong as Garnett recounted that he did that in 2000 in Oakland.

Oakley in response says, “they got so much similarities for dunking,” with regard to their athletic ability.

Oakley added some interesting context, saying that Michael Jordan and Vince Carter weren’t just phenomenal dunkers in the dunk contest but also in regular games.

He considered himself lucky that, despite spending a lot of time in the paint over the course of his career, he’s only been dunked on twice.
