Shaquille O’Neal loves comedy movies. He enjoys both watching and appearing in them. After playing numerous supporting characters in films such as Blended with Adam Sandler and The Wash, the 4x NBA champ slowly transitioned to more substantial and endearing roles. However, it seems the 52-year-old is ready to take on one of the trickiest roles in the movie industry, that of a serial killer. One recent intriguing deal has only further sparked his interest.
Stand-up comedian Tom Segura, the latest special guest on The Big Podcast, offered Shaq a role in his latest Netflix dark comedy series. That’s when O’Neal asked if there could be a fake murder and a serial killer scene for him to play. “Do I get to kill some people?… I always wanted to be like the next Black serial killer cuz we don’t have any,” O’Neal suggested.
O’Neal seemed to be quite serious about it this time. The two even discussed the details of the shoot. It will likely be a one-day shoot such that the basketball legend’s schedule of his reality shows and TNT job is not hampered. Segura even alluded that the shoot location is in Austin, Texas, a place Shaq has often shown his affection for. DJ Diesel even performed there and one of Shaq’s latest Big Chicken outlets opened up in the city.

Segura further urged O’Neal to play a main role rather than the supporting characters he has played so far in his career. Did you know, O’Neal also lent his voice to The Lego movie? So do we get a show that will feature O’Neal? While he wants to take on this deal, there’s another condition.

While nothing is confirmed as of now, one thing is for sure. Renowned comedian and actor Segura’s new six-episode series has just received the green light from Netflix. The pilot show written and produced by Tom intrigued the Netflix production team and the show is set to premiere in 2025. This bizarre dark comedy series, paired with Segura’s narration, will tell stories in a series of vignettes.

O’Neal also seems to be a fan of crime documentaries. Previously, he admitted that he watched the most controversial crime doc series, The Jeffery Dahmer Story. This dark comedy could be a dream role for Shaq and he appears to be quite fascinated by the idea. Quite an unusual but undoubtedly one role that will attract a large audience. The Los Angeles Lakers legend sure knows how to make an impression.
