During a conversation between The Alchemist and Earl Sweatshirt, the discussion shifted towards the most accomplished athlete rapper. Surprisingly, these two artists quickly came to an agreement on who truly deserves that title.

Shaquille O’Neal gets the Alchemist’s approval

Both of these musicians are celebrated luminaries in the music industry. Alan ‘The Alchemist’ Maman has been producing beats for over three decades. In that time, he’s dropped 14 albums and countless more EPs with artists like Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Jadakiss, Snoop Dogg, Fat Joe and his interview partner, Earl Sweatshirt. Thebe Kgositsile’s descriptive approach and lyrical talent have garnered a devoted fan base, establishing him as a respected figure in the rap scene. 

During a recent ‘Complex’ interview, the duo discussed some of their GOATs. When discussing the best athletes, rapper Earl threw Shaq’s name into the ring. Alchemist pivoted saying, “Shaq is the best basketball player to ever rap”

“Shaquille O’Neal, hands down, no basketball player could ever touch him,” explained the 46-year-old producer. Apart from having Grammy nominations in common, it seems the artist duo also agreed on Shaq’s musical prowess. Earl Sweatshirt added, “Certain rappers can’t  f**k with him. Even right now, the new Shaq music!”

O’Neal has produced four albums. His debut album reached its highest position at number 25 on the Billboard 200 chart and even earned platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

When it comes to rapping, O’Neal is not going to lose. He has some strong words for those who dare to challenge his skills in this domain.

The Big Aristotle said, “When I hear the people that say, ‘I’m a better athlete-rapper than Shaq,’ I gotta step up.” He added. “Nothing personal. I just have to let these people know who paved the way. So for me, it’s all fun.”
