4x All-Star Rasheed Wallace didn’t get featured in NBA 2K24 for one reason. Despite earlier claims of the 24′ release being similar to its predecessor, the game’s overall quality has come up to scratch. While the latest version gave tribute to Kobe Bryant, notable names of the NBA world are missing from the list, such as Wallace.

The NBA champion recently sat with Gilbert Arenas and his team for the Gil’s Arena podcast. During the conversation, he was asked about the reason behind his absence from the $26.8o billion worth Take-Two Interactive’s NBA 2K24. Dishing out a 3 letter answer, Wallace explained, “CTC…they gotta cut the check.” As assumed by many, the former basketball star wasn’t content with the contract offered by the company.

There are numerous former NBA stars, such as Rasheed Wallace, who have voluntarily chosen to step back from the game. Reggie Miller is also one of them. The common thread between them is the need for the right compensation for their likeness. Ever since his retirement in 2013, Wallace has not been included in the NBA 2K series. Charles Barkley is also among the basketball greats whose absence has deprived the 2K fanbase.

However, the latest iteration made sure to honor another basketball great. The highlight of the game this year was its tribute to Los Angeles Lakers legend Bryant, whose jersey No. 24 is one of the most iconic in history. The game has released two editions, the Kobe Bryant Edition and the Black Mamba Edition. Both pay homage to the legend’s lasting legacy.

Bryant is the cover athlete of the recent edition. The cover art for the first edition depicts the 5x champion performing a dunk and the second highlights a close-up of his face. NBA 2K24 also has a special feature for Bryant fans. The feature called, “Mamba Moments” will allow people to recreate different historic moments from Bryant’s career.
