According to police reports which dated back to November 5th, 1999, Rodman was in Miami for the shoot of his film Cutaway starring him, Tom Berenger and Stephen Baldwin. Rodman was staying in the Bentley hotel in South Beach, and this is where the fight between him and his then ex-wife took place. However, both the parties had different versions of the truth.

According to Carmen, “We were watching MTV when co-defendant (Rodman) became agitated when defendant’s ex-boyfriend appeared in the video.” She further accuses Rodman to have said, “You fu****g w**re! Get the fu** out! Go with Fred!”

Rodman denied these allegations as he said, “Defendant (Rodman) was asleep – passed out actually – when co-defendant (Carmen) started poking defendant with a rose stem.” However, Rodman in a later interview lay out the big picture of what really happened that night.

Rodman said, “Big picture: for whatever reason, a knockdown, drag-out fight ensued that went up one side that hotel and down the other. I really don’t remember much of this, a fleeting detail here and there – forget the sequence of events – since I was, you guessed it, shitfaced.”

The ex-couple had been drinking and partying the whole night in Miami and had only gotten back to their suite at 4:30 in the morning. Rodman claims that both him and his ex-wife were not in the right state of mind during the fight since both of them were still drunk.

Rodman filed for an annulment of his marriage just 9 days after it, claiming he was of “unsound mind” when they tied the knot. The couple later reconciled but the relationship did not last as they ultimately got divorced by April 1999. Despite getting divorced, the couple would continue to still see each other until this “drag-out” fight took place in November of 1999.
