The NBA icon has made it clear that the 22-year-old will be soon sporting an Indiana jersey and there is a reason behind it. The Indiana Fever, who struggled last year with a 10th-seed finish, has bagged the No.1 pick for the upcoming season. With what Clark has achieved in collegiate basketball, no WNBA team would miss a chance to draft her first.

At least Reggie Miller wouldn’t. He shared on his Instagram, “All 3 of these BALLERS will be calling Gainbridge Fieldhouse home… The future is bright for both the @indianafever @pacers…”, sharing a collage of Clark, along with Tyrese Haliburton from the Pacers and Aliyah Boston from the Fever. The light is bright for Indiana, and Miller wants to revisit the city’s best basketball days through these stars. 

Clark had announced on her social media, “While this season is far from over and we have a lot more goals to achieve, it will be my last one at Iowa. I am excited to be entering the 2024 WNBA draft.” The Iowa Hawkeyes star is expected to be a game-changer in this well-known league. College basketball has witnessed her impact as she now holds the scoring record with 3650 points in the NCAA. Let’s see if her influence will continue in the big league. 

Why would Caitlin Clark be the perfect fit for the Indiana Fever? 

Leaving alone the fact that the Fever have the first pick, they would still need someone like Caitlin Clark to get to the postseason. They got Aliyah Boston in the previous draft who won the Rookie of the Year. The power forward averaged 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds, securing a total of 578 points and 335 rebounds in just 40 games. With Clark joining the Indiana side, it will be a team full of young talents, but a dangerous one. The 22-year-old might be the missing piece for the following reasons.

Indian’s general manager Linn Dunn shared in an interview earlier this month, “We’re looking to see who’s going to be the next point guard of this team. We’re all looking at the size of our guards, looking at whether they can be versatile, can they score, pass, and play the 2 and 1 positions.” Clearly, Clark fits all these descriptions and is delivering a one-man show at Iowa.
