LeBron James is among the top contenders in the GOAT debate. However, it seems like none of his kids inherited the GOAT gene. Until, Bronny James portrayed his exceptional skills as a freshman at the University of Southern California. At this moment, LeBron James dreamt about playing alongside his eldest son.

To fulfill his dream, he found the Los Angeles Lakers apt for the purpose. But there is only one obstacle: his contract with the Lakers would be ending in the 2024-25 season. However, LeBron had his ways to deal with this problem. And he decided to sign a contract extension of a maximum of three years.

He started off with, “This team needs to go back to size. Okay. If it’s not, we’re going to fix it. And I think they’ve been fixing it, fixing it, fixing it. And in all of their doings to try to fix something that didn’t need to be fixed, they’ve just completely messed everything up.” But, this is not everything he said.

Beside this, he gave some examples. “You talk about James Harden. How long ago was it when Dwight won that bowl championship? 2020. That was 2020….But as a kid, I didn’t know what was happening on the inside. You know, he was a little rusty,” he said. Then he asked, “Do I have anything to buy another big man to put money on? I trust in another big man to put money on. Do I want to bring him back next year? Do I want to bring him back here? Oh, there’s a big one. I don’t know, man. There isn’t right now. I don’t know where he should go.” However, the whole situation is much more intense than it seems to be.

Will the Lakers’ opt for Bronny and LeBron?

The Lakers currently are on a $7,438,962 surplus. While their tax threshold calculates to $171,315,000, their current standings are at $178,753,962. This means there are certain financial limitations at the Lakers this season. But, still, James might trade for two more seasons as per the Athletics.com.

Interestingly, signing an extension contract with James would increase the franchise’s salary cap. Yet, they might ignore the deal as they want to sign his son Bronny this season. According to Fox News, there are +350 chances that Bronny would land with the Lakers this season. Though, it would not fulfill the dream of father-son duo playing together.
