The NBA is seeing a shift. The greats of this era are still dominant despite their age. Players like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant are still some of the best talents in the league, while also being some of the oldest players in the NBA. Celtics legend Kevin Garnett is attributing this to advances in medicine but also, to the discipline that the players have.
In a recent episode of the Ticket & The Truth, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce gave their take on how some superstars are defying Father Time. As they see it, players are pushing themselves harder than before, and they pointed to Chef Curry as a prime example.

Stephen Curry’s work ethic is unmatched, believes Kevin Garnett
Paul Pierce mentioned that players like Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry are 35, and both of them are still averaging over 30 PPG. Pierce let it be known that when he was 35, he was on the final stretch of his career and was on a downward trajectory. But the current stars in the NBA are different.’

Kevin Garnett gave his props to modern medicine and new technologies for helping the current athletes stay in better shape for longer in their careers and prolong their careers. The players are spending millions of dollars on their bodies to prolong their careers and be the best version of themselves.
On top of this, these great NBA players are true professionals. They are not skipping workouts or practices, and they are disciplined in their craft. “Everybody you just named are true professionals. They in the gym. They running running. Do their workout. They locked into what they do bro,” the 2004 NBA MVP added.

The Big Ticket emphasized on Curry’s “no days off” mentality, “Steph Curry, don’t matter what vacation he on, wherever he at, he gets it in. Whether he running the sands in goddamn Dubai, Malibu, goddamn Mimosa Beach, it don’t matter.“

The older players are still getting better
LeBron James will turn 39 years old in one month. He recently played a game against the Utah Jazz, where head coach Will Hardy was four years younger than LeBron.
There has been a major shift in the trajectory of great NBA players’ careers. LeBron is in his 20th season and is currently having the best true shooting season of his career. This is not normal. He recently also crossed the 39,000-point milestone.

Players like Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are both leading their teams while being some of the oldest players on the roster, and both are averaging over 30 points per game.
