Given the hot happenings in the boxing world, NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins’ interest is understandable. The latest is Ryan Garcia’s unexpected and stunning win over Devin Haney. He not only exceeded the expectations but did so in the most unexpected fashion. He scored three knockdowns on Devin Haney. While Haney was set to make his opponent payback for the weird antics and social media posts, Garcia countered them all by knocking Haney down multiple times. Impressed by his fight, former NBA player Perkins took to his social media handle to express his thrill.

Another comment by the ‘Boxing World’ read, “As the world waited for him to crash and burn, Ryan Garcia produced a career-best performance to beat Devin Haney.” And indeed, he showed great strength precisely when no one expected it. The expressions on the faces of those watching the matchup spoke much about it. Perkins isn’t the only one.

The Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson was also in attendance. In a clip featuring former boxer Antonio Tarver’s interview on the fight, Iverson was seen leaving the premises. While he stopped by to click some pictures with Tarver, Iverson refused to share his opinion on the bout. And many more who were present at the Barclays Center.

A somewhat similar situation is also seen on social media where fans and veterans are awestruck by the 25-year-old’s abilities and praise him. Oscar De La Hoya who boasts of winning 11 world titles in six weight classes sang praises of the winner. “The king does it again!!!!! @kingryan,” Oscar wrote on his X handle.

Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson also discussed Ryan’s abilities in the show, Nightcap. Johnson shared, “I think he (Ryan) already is special because there’s something about Garcia that you can’t teach and that’s speed and that’s quickness, there’s something in his hands that it relates to power.” He further explained how Ryan might tried to fool everyone with his bizarre antics that even had netizens question his mental readiness before the fight.

Despite losing the match to Garcia, the WBC super lightweight title still belongs to Haney as the former weighed in about 3.2 pounds over the 140-pound limit set.
