Usually, Michael Jordan is the one famous for breaking and bending rules. Little did we know that his former teammate Scottie Pippen also broke a few rules. It has been over three years since the 6x NBA champion separated from his ex-wife Larsa, but recently, an interesting detail of their past resurfaced.

Pippen’s close friend, John Salley, shared the story during his recent appearance on Vlad TV. Salley shared how the Chicago Bulls legend always used to bring his then-wife Larsa with him on the team plane. “She was always on the road, always going places with them. She needs that up close tight validation,” said Salley.

When the host questioned him whether it was common to bring their family member to the team plane, Salley shared, “Never, you just don’t do that…No one brings their wife to work.” He further revealed that Larsa would fly on the same plane with the rest of the team.

Pippen and Larsa tied the knot in 1997 and weathered the storms of life together until their marriage came to an end in 2021. The Real Housewife and the Chicago Bulls legend were married for nearly 20 years. The two share four children, Scotty Jr., Preston, Justin, and Sophia. Following her separation, Larsa made headlines by stepping into the spotlight with her relationship with Jordan’s son Marcus Jordan. Despite several issues, the couple is still going strong.

However, it seemed Pippen was quite different when it came to his wife joining him on almost every trip. There was certainly no strict rule on that, however, this practice was just uncommon among players and still is.

Do NBA wives travel with the team?

With nearly half of all NBA games being played on the road, players would not have enough time to spend with their wives/girlfriends. While many NBA players’ wives, fiancés, and girlfriends opt to travel with the team, an equal number opt to stay home. However, for the wives/ fiancés/ girlfriends who do opt to travel with the team, they will be expected to purchase and secure their own travel.

However, the travel may be difficult, expensive, and unnecessary. Similarly, for many of these wives, fiancés, and girlfriends, such frequent travel would preclude them from their own responsibilities, jobs, and work that they have.

In addition, for many NBA players with young children, such frequent travel would be difficult on the kids and would remove them from classes and additional extracurricular activities which they are signed up for. As such, most NBA players’ wives, fiancés, and girlfriends will opt to not travel with the team to away games.
