Many people considered Scottie Pippen to be Michael Jordan‘s best partner. Ever since the ‘Last Dance’ release, the former has tried speaking his truth. To set the record straight, Pip wrote a book, and recently even did a ‘No Bulls Tour’. It is obvious that the relationship between the duo is not at all on good terms. But it doesn’t mean the forward has no friends. In fact, it is a name that may come as a surprise.

“Guarding the best only made me better 💪🏾💯.” Scottie Pippen wrote on X, alongside the photo of Magic Johnson. Yes, the photo is with the Lakers legend, who often spends vacations with Michael Jordan. The picture that the 7x All-Star used was from the training camp with the national team.

Magic Johnson and Scottie Pippen were part of the 1992 ‘Dream Team’ that set unprecedented records. But for the Chicago Bulls legend, the time spent with the team was precious. He even highlighted the impact of the one training session, which edged in his memory over any other experience.

However, when I think of Monte Carlo, I don’t think of the prince or the casino. Or even the women. I think of the game one day in practice between the Blue Team led by Magic (which included Barkley, Mullin, Robinson, and Laettner) and the White Team led by Michael.” Scottie Pippen spoke about his experience in his memoir ‘Unguarded. “Of all the basketball that was played from La Jolla through Barcelona, the game in Monte Carlo was at a level beyond anything else.

Even Magic Johnson described the experience of Dream Team earlier this year. When Jordan and Larry Bird were hesitant to join the team, Johnson pleaded, stating that they would have the time of their lives. And it seems that the 65-year-old cherished his time, as he celebrated Scottie Pippen earlier this year.

Magic Johnson called Scottie Pippen “unselfish “and was “proud” of his friend.

The Chicago Bulls celebrated ‘Ring of Honor’, a ceremony to honor some of their legends. Artis Gilmore, Phil Jackson, Michael Jordan, Johnny “Red” Kerr, Dick Klein, Jerry Krause, Toni Kukoc, Bob Love, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Jerry Sloan, Chet Walker, Tex Winter, and the 1995-96 team, which went 72-10 and won the 1996 NBA Championship.

For Pippen, it was Magic Johnson who wrote a few words describing the #33. “I’m grateful that I had the privilege of playing with Scottie on the 1992 Dream Team. I always knew he had game, but I was even more impressed by his work ethic, dedication, and ability to make his teammates better. He was unselfish and played the game with extreme passion and heart.

He concluded that was proud to be friends with a game-changer. “I want to thank Scottie for changing the game of basketball as we know it. Scottie deserves this recognition, and I am proud to call him a friend.” So even though Pippen might have burned a bridge with Jordan, it seems there is no such issue with Magic Johnson.
