Under the Hollywood lights on May 8, Scottie Pippen stepped from the shadows, his first A-list appearance since 2018, joining Matt Barnes at Hidden Empire’s athlete-storyteller gala. What drove the retired Bulls great back into the spotlight, and what does it mean for a family already cast by wedding whispers?

On May 12, Hidden Empire Films and The Union hosted the HESC showcase in LA, spotlighting athlete storytellers via a Sundance Institute partnership. The company has launched an initiative in collaboration with the Sundance Institute “to showcase the next wave of athlete storytellers.” It is to help tell the stories of athletes through strategic partnerships that will showcase authentic narratives from athletes worldwide.

Pippen joined Matt Barnes on the red carpet, snapping photos for Hidden Empire’s Instagram. Barnes is now a big name in the sports broadcasting world with the success of the All The Smoke podcast. Speaking of Pippen, he has teamed up with the same Hidden Empire Films for his new documentary on the “Game 5 Ball.” Visionary director Deon Taylor shared the pictures on the brand’s Instagram page.

This comes just after Coby teased that he is getting married to Larsa. The couple was recently seen walking hand-in-hand outside an event in Miami. “We’re getting married 2025. We’re getting married. It’s gonna be a beautiful marriage. November 2025… I can’t tell you when I’m gonna propose,” he said. While the two have yet to share how and when they met, it seems things are getting serious.  Confronted by paparazzi, Coby repeated that it’s going to be a beautiful marriage in November 2025. Considering Larsa’s reaction, it could be a simple joke. Regardless, nothing is confirmed until the two make it official.

While both Larsa and the Chicago Bulls legend are occupied with their schedules, the one stealing the spotlight from the Pippen family is their son, Scotty Pippen Jr.

Scottie Pippen’s son stole the spotlight in the Playoffs

Despite the Grizzlies’ early and ugly playoff exit, the 24-year-old became a star and hero for the fans. In Ja Morant’s absence due to his hip injury, Scotty Pippen Jr. played an incredible role in uplifting the team. His work ethic and positive presence in the locker room were also praised by his teammates. After a few impressive stints, he signed a two-way contract with the Grizzlies.

While he had a disappointing performance in Games 1 and 2 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, he changed the narrative going into Game 3. His offensive abilities played a crucial role in helping the Memphis Grizzlies gain a lead by halftime over the powerful Thunder. However, it all soon fell apart after Morant’s exit, despite the team’s great efforts.

Though the Grizzlies bowed out early, 24-year-old Scotty Pippen Jr. averaged 9.9PPG in the regular season. But when it came to the playoffs, he erupted for 29 PPG, 8 RPG in Games 3–4 at FedExForum.

Even Larsa and Scottie paused headlines to celebrate Pippen Jr.’s scoring surge. Pippen has shown what he is capable of, and it seems that his destination isn’t changing anytime soon.
