You can’t sit in Chuck’s chair and not try to pull a fast one on Shaq. However, the Mayor of Pranks Shaquille O’Neal is far more experienced in falling for any trickery. Vince Carter, one of the most artistic dunkers in NBA history, tried to use Shaq the way Mac McClung and Jaime Jaquez Jr. did at the Slam Dunk contest. Only without him knowing. Did it work?
Vinsanity, who was announced to the 2024 class of Hall of Fame finalists at the All-Star Weekend, showed a backstage clip where one of the TNT staff held a basket. Carter still is spectacularly aerial as he made a poster dunk in a suit and earned 10s from the production crew. However, it didn’t end there.
While Shaq, Ernie, and Kenny were watching the video, the same production staff snuck up behind the seven-foot Big Diesel with the hoop. Unfortunately, Shaq saw Vince charging for him and moved out of the way. Hence, once more, someone didn’t dunk ‘on’ the most dominant center in the NBA.

Carter did sink the ball even without Shaq. He yelled, “I got it,” but O’Neal blew it off, saying, “No way.” Earlier in the show, they discussed Shaq’s participation in this year’s Slam Dunk Contest. Shaq was instrumental in G-League guard, Mac McClung winning his second consecutive slam dunk title.
O’Neal clarified how that went down after McClung requested his participation just before the contest. It made Carter summarize that McClung dunked “with” him and not “on” him. O’Neal won’t allow that on a good day. He did admit that he ‘let’ Carter disrespect him during their respective careers.

After congratulating Carter on his Hall of Fame honor, Shaq narrated an incident that spoke of their friendly rivalry. “Vince is one of the guys that, because of his ability, I let him do what he want… But one day, I’m on the baseline, he on the baseline, he’s got a dunk on me.”
In true Big Aristotle fashion, he responded to the disrespect by fouling him. “I had to flagrant 3… I had to flagrant 3 his a**.”

But since Charles Barkley took a day off and Vince was there, Shaq took a moment to apologize for his ruthless ways. Sweet as it was, he wasn’t going to let Vinsanity dunk on him ever again.
