7x NBA Champ Favors Jayson Tatum Over Top MVP Contenders Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic

The 2024 MVP Race has begun to heat up. This one’s probably the most intriguing with almost every player in the conversation being the most skilled. Currently, the conversation is being hotly contested between Nikola Jokic, Luca Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and more. Currently, the first two positions are claimed by Jokic and Doncic. As the players head into the final month of the season, many have already shared their opinions and votes on who they believe is the most deserving player. 7x NBA champion Robert Horry also expressed his view on the MVP race.
In the latest episode of The Big Shot Bob Podcast, the champ shared that for him, Jayson Tatum is the most deserving player for the MVP title. “My MVP vote goes to Jayson Tatum,” Horry said.

On the other hand, his co-hosts named Shai Alexander as the most deserving. Tatum is doing wonders for the Boston Celtics, thanks to which the team is having great success. The Boston Celtics are the top seed in the Eastern Conference. His efforts for the team and impressive statistics in all areas including scoring are quite convincing. But the question is: can Tatum manage to beat the top contenders and grab the title?

Nikola Jokic vs. Luca Doncic.
Jokic has averaged 26.5 points, 12.3 rebounds and 9 assists this regular season. His contribution has been instrumental in the Denver Nuggets‘ rise to contention for the top spot in the Western Conference. He is also a two-time MVP winner (2021, 2022). It’s understandable why the Joker stands on top. Giving him a tough competition is SGA. Following close is point forward Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks star. While he was ranked fifth, last March, the player quickly elevated his game and rests on second now.

“(Luka was) really being more vocal, challenging his teammates, challenging me and doing it in his own way and I think that’s the true sign of an MVP. His stats speak for themselves. He’s first in a lot of different categories,” Irving said about Doncic’s game in his interview during a post-game conference. He added, “Me as a brother of his, I have the upmost love and support to give him during this time because I want to see him win MVP…The most important thing he wants to do is win and he’s always put that first…” Doncic has averaged 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game.
