You can never expect anything ordinary from the Los Angeles Lakers legend. We should have guessed it when he stepped down temporarily to seek re-election to the board of directors at Papa John’s. Why is Shaquille’ O’Neal’s Shaqaroni so special?

At first glance, it may seem like just a big, tasty pizza loaded with pepperoni. However, what makes it special is the name joined with it. The first-ever item launched under Shaquille O’Neal’s name achieved an impressive success of $3 million.

This limited-time offering naturally contributes to the hype and demand surrounding it. And another is its good intentions. For every pizza sold, $1 goes to The Papa John’s Foundation. “At Papa Johns, we believe pizza brings people together. This collaboration has brought joy to pizza lovers and raised awareness about important issues impacting our communities. It’s a great example of how a popular menu item can give back, combining delicious pizza with meaningful contributions to our communities,” Jennifer Garner, Senior Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Papa Johns said.

Over the past four years, this initiative has generated over $13.1 million, with $4 million contributed to the Foundation’s Building Community Fund. This program also supports several other organizations, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newark and Kids’ Meals among others.
