Following a wholesome moment on TNT with his daughter, Shaq was ready to throw fists on Instagram. The youngest O’Neal joined Inside the NBA today and Shaquille O’Neal made it extra special for Me’Arah, a newly minted McDonald’s All-American. Once he got that sweet episode out of the way, he tried to challenge Floyd Mayweather.

My boy, Floyd Mayweather got a team,” Shaq said on an Instagram Reel seemingly filmed backstage at Studio J. “You’re into my area, huh, Floyd? A’ight, Imma get a team too. TBT what you got. Holler at me. I’m coming for you, Floyd. Still love you though. You’re my boy, but I’m coming for you.”

He captioned the post, “Trying to get some of that @the.tournament and @floydmayweather money. Tournament coming soon,” and tagged some of the staff of Team Hines Basketball Academy. The official Tournament Instagram page hyped the potential matchup between Big Diesel and Money too.

TBT (The Basketball Tournament) is open to all applicants for its annual tournament with a $1 million prize. Most participants are amateur who haven’t played in the NBA. Floyd Mayweather has jumped in on the action with ‘The Money Team.’ Along with aspiring basketball stars, he brings in a staff of coaches for the young players. Some of his in the 2022 roster, Jarrod Jones, Jordan Crawford and Jeff Ledbetter play in international basketball leagues.

Whether Mayweather responds or this matchup happens when the Tournament happens during the summer remains to be seen. The immediate priority on Shaq’s schedule is the McDonald’s All-American Game.

Shaq’s daughter is up for a challenge too

The 2024 McDonald’s All-American Game will take place on April 2, 2024, in Houston, not far from where Me’Arah O’Neal is based. Shaq, who played in this game 34 years earlier, won’t miss his daughter’s big night.

Me’Arah is in Atlanta today and she made a quick appearance on Inside the NBA where TNT presented her flowers for her achievement. The highlight was when her dad presented her #24 McDonald’s All-American jersey. “First of all, I’m so proud of you, I love you,” he told her before unveiling her jersey.

Because it’s Inside the NBA it’s incomplete without some teasing and throwing some challenges here and there. “You think you can beat Kenny in a three-point shootout?” Shaq threw out and Me’Arah was up for it. Kenny ‘The Jet” Smith was not. Charles Barkley said somewhere in the chaos that it’s unfair pressure to put on Kenny. Meanwhile, Kenny was ready to concede defeat before Me’Arah had a ball in her hands.

She took the shot anyway and hit an impressive 3. Her dad must be proud she doesn’t have his free-throw skills (or lack thereof) because he was bouncing in excitement when she made that shot. This is probably a preview of how Shaquille O’Neal is going to look like in the stands at the McDonald’s All-American game.
