‘You are your own worst enemy.’ Shaquille O’Neal‘s daughter, Taahirah O’Neal, finds this relatable. Last year, she was too hard on herself, but in 2024, she has learned from her mistakes and wants to grow. In a recent conversation on ‘Do I Know You? w/ Jordierae,’ she discussed her struggles.

“I’m allowing myself a lot more grace. It’s because I’m my own worst enemy sometimes. There’s nobody out here putting pressure on me like I am. … I told myself, last year you’ve been real hard like, I had moments where I would put myself in the hospital from the anxiety, just being overwhelmed.” She even joked about the hospital staff, exclaiming, “She back, give her some oxygen.”

During the conversation, Taahirah mentioned that she might have a type A personality and that she can stay focused on her goals. She prefers “going hard until it’s done.” But during her high school years, when she switched from a private school to a public school, she struggled. She remembered how her grades were low and her attendance was bad. It was a culture shock for her. As a result, she didn’t graduate with a high score and hence, she felt she had to redeem herself.

Community college helped her, and she eventually went to Oglethorpe University, where she graduated from. From 2014 to 2022, she was laser-focused on her goals and future. She wouldn’t go out with her friends. In fact, she said her laptop and her car were her only constant companions.

Hence, she is allowing herself to relax a bit this year. “Everything I didn’t allow myself to do, I’m doing it now,” Taahirah added. Her focus now is to have a bit more fun in life and not just be about serious business all the time. This could be the reason why she is spotted at games, and visiting her father’s fast-food chain, among other places.

Taahirah is going to be a part of Shaquille O’Neal’s nostalgia project

The NBA veteran has a lot on his plate. He keeps himself busy working on numerous businesses. One of the biggest successes from the O’Neal camp has been the fast-food restaurant ‘Big Chicken’. What started as just a concept restaurant where the Big Man could give a taste of his favorite childhood delicacies to his fans has since turned into a giant in the business.

Shaq’s Big Chicken has opened over 300 units across the country and there are several in the pipeline. Now comes Taahirah, the latest to be involved in it. She is interested in the business and management aspect of ‘Big Chicken’ and she will soon start working for her dad’s franchise.

Taahirah was initially hesitant to be a part of ‘Big Chicken’. She said, “I swore, I SWORE I wasn’t gonna be working with Shaquille at all.” However, she is now on board with the plan. “I’m about to start helping out my dad’s restaurant chain,” she said.
