Shaq Diesel knows a hip-hop beef well. Although he had more friendships with hip-hop icons than feuds. Since he predates the likes of Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J.Cole, Shaquille O’Neal suggested a way to make this brewing feud interesting. Before he boasted about his friendship with Biggie on The Big Podcast this week, he suggested the rappers turn their feud into a show and bury the hatchet that way—something as they’d do on WWE, Shaq’s other favorite entertainment.

He tells Adam Lefkoe and the guests, Gillie and Wallo, “If they were smart, they would WWE it out.” He’s not exactly recommending Drake, Kendrick, and J. Cole duke it out in a WWE ring, throwing punches and body slams. But something close. “Like, ‘Hey, I’m gon’ say something, you say something, then we gonna come out do a show, boom boom and major pay-per-view.'”

A good few would certainly pay to see that. Now they savor the diss tracks and social media jibes these artists are dropping consecutively. The reigning rap heavyweights kickstarted a feud when Drake and Cole’s “First Person Shooter” called the three of them the ‘Big Three.’ Lamar proceeded to take direct shots at Drake and Cole in “Like That.” Cole again took a dig at Lamar in “7 Minute Drill” this month but proceeded to publicly apologize to Lamar for it. The most recent development is Drake’s alleged diss track, “Push Ups” getting leaked.

These diss tracks are Billboard chart-toppers proving fans are enjoying the quality of verses with a side of drama. Other emcees are also involved, including Shaq’s friend Rick Ross, who’s been trading social media barbs with Drake.

By all accounts, these rappers aren’t done. Shaq’s not only one of us enjoying it, he’s also inclined to make a spectacle of it.

Shaq wants a show

In the past, MCs were known to trade verses and hash it out. Shaq’s from that era. And he can rhyme too. He mentioned Biggie, one of his closest friends who collaborated with him on an unreleased track. As history goes, Biggie turned feuds into an art form and Shaq seems to have that bug.

Shaq’s hoping for some of that, waiting for the next response from Drake, Lamar, or Cole. “As a fan I’m just waiting for the next response,” he says. But he’s also counting on this competition between the rappers to produce some great music. He’d prefer the spectacle even if they take it up a notch.

But the big man didn’t pick a side. Maybe it’s with his old friend Rick Ross who’s in a back-and-forth with Aubrey Graham and his mom. Whose side do you think Shaq is on?
