Sports memorabilia have always fetched jaw-dropping values at auction. The jersey called “Called Shot” worn by Babe Ruth at the 1932 World Series achieved $24.12 million! The NBA is no different. NBA legend Michael Jordan‘s jersey, which he wore in Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals, achieved a historic $10.1 million. And auction house Sotheby’s has presented two more precious gems that were worn by Jordan and Kobe Bryant at TNT before the sale. Shaquille O’Neal, who is seemingly drawn to memorabilia, made a hilarious offer.

It seems that while O’Neal wants these two expensive game-worn jerseys, he also wants them at a much lower price. The first is Jordan’s jersey, likely from his rookie year in the 1980s. The most important factor is that the jersey originally belonged to different players before Jordan. As seen on the jersey, the letters and numbers were replaced with Jordan’s and given to him because the Bulls had financial difficulties at the time, as per the auction house. However, the original player who wore the jersey is unknown. This jersey is valued at about $10 million.

Another jersey is Kobe Bryant’s from his regular-season debut. As per the auction house, this jersey, which is also expected to achieve $10 million, might be more valuable than Jordan’s. After listening to the story behind the jerseys, O’Neal hilariously offered “$20,000” for both. This is quite amusing, considering some of his jerseys have sold for far more than $20,000.

This also engaged Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith, who made slightly higher offers than O’Neal, $30,000 and $50,000, respectively. But again, they were joking since none of these are even close to the prices that might be the bidding war. Not just those two, but there were also two other important jerseys worn by Chuck and Shaq. Did you know that one of Shaq’s uniforms has been sold for a quarter million?

Shaquille O’Neal’s special uniform fetched $262,500

The 4x NBA champ joined the Lakers in 1996. The special uniform that O’Neal wore during this season, especially in Kobe’s debut game, achieved $262,500 at an auction. This set a record, being one of the most expensive memorabilia of O’Neal.

There are several other NBA jerseys that garnered massive success. The Los Angeles Lakers legend Bryant’s game-worn jersey from Game 2 of the 2008 Western Conference Semifinals was a signed one. It fetched $5.8 million at an auction in February. As said before, this little auction experience at TNT also featured two more jerseys.

Barkley’s jersey was from the 1992 NBA All-Star when he wore No. 32 for a year to honor Magic Johnson and another was a warm up jacket that O’Neal once wore. Going back to the original pieces, the Chicago Bulls legend’s jersey is about to go on sale on March 14 and will be held for 10 days and Bryant’s jersey will be released in April in the same way. The bidding will likely be intense.
