Shaquille O’Neal’s Lesser Known Son and LeBron James’ Doting Support Fails to Overpower NBA Fans’ Hate Toward 16YO Protégé

Bronny James’s return to the court is yet to be witnessed, but in the meantime, LeBron James‘s 16-year-old son has teased what he is capable of. Bryce Maximus James is a name to look out for in the upcoming few years. After he starred for his new high school, videos highlighting his crazy lay-up package went viral on social media. A former Washington Wizards veteran and a member of the Shaquille O’Neal family had high praise for the young star as well. However, social media users were of a different opinion.

LeBron James is used to the criticism he has been receiving for the last two decades. Now it’s time for Bryce James to face the same. What did the fans pinpoint about? Let’s take a look.

LeBron James’ 16-year-old son’s high school debut gets mixed reactions

Playing in his third school now, Bryce James debuted for Notre Dame today, which instantly put him under the spotlight. After spending his summer with Campbell Hall High School, Bryce surprisingly announced he would be switching schools. Fans who were excited to see the 16-year-old in a new uniform were a bit underwhelmed after his performance today.

While on one side, a few were disappointed with his performance, some famous stars had high praise for Bryce. Former Wizards star Gilbert Arenas loved the youngster’s impressive layups as he commented a few fire emojis in an Instagram post that highlighted his performance.

Shaquille O’Neal’s eldest son Shareef showed his support by sharing Bryce’s debut on his Instagram story. Last but not least, Bryce got credited by his own dad as well. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar shared the 16-year-old’s highlights on his stories and added, “Savage Hours!!!!!”

While big names praised Bryce, many fans on the internet weren’t impressed with the 16-year-old’s performance.

Underwhelmed fans pinpoint a few mistakes in Bryce James’s debut

Bryce ended the game with just 7 points. However, it had a few acrobatic layups and a three-pointer. The teenager is already 6’8 and has started blocking layups, just like his father. Although there wasn’t much from Bryce today, it is indeed a start to many. 

Yet, fans were not satisfied. A few fans sarcastically commented, “A whopping 7 points he so tough,” “He be dropping the tuffest 7 points ever.”

Some were calling out a travel as well, writing, “So refs to the day off I see… back to back travels to start the highlights,” and “He traveling like sh*t.” However, there were a few fans who were seemingly impressed with Bryce’s performance.

One fan wrote, “Dawg layup package elite,” while another user went on to make a big claim, commenting, “Might be better than Bronny callin it now.”
