Understanding her dilemma, O’Neal advised her to “communicate” openly with her husband about her feelings and look to support him with everything to correct his mistakes.

Praising women as superheroes for their families, O’Neal gave an example of films and suggested, “I always look at all those ancient movies where they talk about the king, but the queen is always the one raising him up and pumping him up. So lift your man the best that you can because men go through a lot.”

Shaquille O’Neal gracefully accepted Shaunie Henderson’s confession

In her first book and autobiography, Undefeated, Shaunie Henderson detailed how, during her marriage to O’Neal, she lacked the communication with her husband that she desired. She sought ways to spend time with him, but amidst handling her kids, she could only find 3 to 4 days when he was on a road trip.

This was the only time she had with O’Neal. Shaunie even confessed doubts about whether she truly loved O’Neal, expressing that she might have been more fond of the idea of loving her husband and family. This comment stirred significant backlash, with netizens and some sports celebrities criticizing the mother of five

However, Shaunie’s kids showed her immense support, and O’Neal was supportive as well. Taking to Instagram, he stated that he understood Shaunie’s side of the story and wrote, “I understand…I wouldn’t have been in love with me either.”
