Cowboys nation, take a breather. Your self-proclaimed giant mascot has a reassuring opinion. Honorary Dallas resident, Shaquille O’Neal is a Cowboys diehard who will wear a hat, talk with a twang, and put on his famous Tex Johnson alter ego to annoy notorious Cowboys critic, Stephen A. Smith. So you best know that he too was pretty affected by that Micah Parsons trade. At such a turbulent time, Shaq follows his own advice and trusts Jerry Jones to lead the way.

Jerry Jones does need some supporters in his corner and all 7’1″ feet of ‘Tex Johnson’ will fill most of that void. After months of internal strife with the Cowboys, Micah Parsons was traded to the Packers just a week before the season began. Fans didn’t take to losing the franchise cornerstone that well and lashed out at the Cowboys’ ownership and execs.
Speaking to TMZ a couple of weeks since that trade, Shaquille O’Neal assured his fellow Cowboys fans with the most on-brand statement. “We’ll be fine. And I know I said if the Cowboys lose, I will wear a dress. I didn’t have to wear a dress because Charles Barkley wore a dress. I need you to show that… I need you to show that Weight Watchers commercial. This is how my Cowboys do.”

For the uninitiated, Charles Barkley wore an LBD and wig in a 2012 Weight Watchers commercial. Shaq brought it back this year to claim he’d wear the same dress if Rudy Gobert got in the Hall of Fame. In the same edition of the Big Podcast, Shaq said he’d wear the dress outside the Big Chicken restaurant in Las Vegas if the Cowboys lose to Barkley’s Eagles in NFL’s Week 1 matchup. The Cowboys did lose 24-20 and Shaq is yet to wear that dress.
But not following through a challenge is nothing new to Shaq. It doesn’t discount how serious of a Cowboys fan he is. And that’s not all he’s willing to do for them. Last year, he was pitching his fellow LSU alum Leonard Fournette to Jerry Jones.

Shaq has the same opinion for Cowboys and Luka Doncic
Don’t underestimate the lengths Shaquille O’Neal is willing to go for the Dallas Cowboys. He bet his 50-acre farm in Texas and his entire Tex Johnson persona on the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl.

On the same TMZ interview, Shaq was gushing about the Netflix documetary, America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys. Given his obsession, he probably was just as shocked about the Micah Parsons trade as much as the Dallas Mavericks trading away Luka Doncic. Shaq though is the wait and watch guy.
Specifically, he’s not concerned for the Dallas NBA team as he hopes that the Doncic trade works out for the other team. “Throughout the league, it’s always been a backcourt duo, but here in L.A., we expect championships, so hopefully they can get it done this year,” Shaq said about the Lakers just as he hopes for the Dallas Cowboys winning the Super Bowl.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Shaq's loyalty to Jerry Jones justified, or is he just setting himself up for disappointment?
Have an interesting take?
He’s going to wait for Doncic to pull a miracle with the Lakers and wait for the Micah Parsons trade to work out for the Cowboys.

In the meantime, he’s taking on Jerry Jones’ critics. Including the interviewer, Mike Babcock. “Don’t you ever disrespect my Jerry Jones,” he told the reporter. In a friendly way of course. “Mike, I will come through this TV and slap that gel out your hair. Don’t you ever disrespect my damn Jerry Jones.”
Mike better hope that like the Barkley LBD, Shaq doesn’t see this challenge through. But the jury is still out on his Cowboys.
