Shaquille O’Neal led the tailgate festivities for the Baltimore Ravens last week. While fans were left dejected after the Taylor Swift-led Chiefs squashed the Ravens’ Super Bowl hopes, the crowd at Echostage in Washington DC was still buzzing with DJ Diesel’s energy. Always playing to the gallery, Shaq was equally overwhelmed by the crowd’s electrifying response. The vibe at Echostage was so good, that Shaq was almost considering moving to DC. He tested if he was welcome first and fans delivered.
Shaquille O’Neal has visited Washington DC when his four championship wins earned him a visit to the White House. But in his massive real estate portfolio, a residence in the capital has remained elusive. The crowd there is enticing him though. He led the pre-game extravaganza at Jimmy’s Famous Seafood tailgate before the Ravens and Chiefs took the field.
He was even trying to kickstart an anti-Taylor Swift campaign (no malice, Shaq’s a Swiftie). But as history went, the Ravens lost and Swift was on the field celebrating Super Bowl-bound Travis Kelce. DJ Diesel was the scene-stealer though because Ravens fans could wallow in misery after basking in his energy.

He too shared the highlights from the spectacular event on Instagram with a poll. “should I move to DC so we can do this more often? yes? no? whatever y’all decide i’ll do.” His poll had three options – yes, absolutely, and nah. The overwhelming response was leaning towards yes and absolutely. Some are even making him irresistible offers like, “I will pay ur property taxes.”

That wasn’t even the only attempt by a commenter to sweeten the deal. How likely are these offers going to succeed in drawing Shaq to the capital?

Fans want DJ Diesel
O’Neal spends most days in a year in Atlanta, Georgia where his job at NBA on TNT is based. He’s traveling often on his $27 million jet, performing in venues anywhere from Florida to Romania. He actually confessed that since he’s not a top-tier DJ, he doesn’t get paid as much as he spends on getting to the venue. He still does it because fans make it worth it.

Fans want his larger-than-life energy too. As many DC natives pleaded, “Please move here lol,” and “Yes. Do it. This was the most fun show I’ve ever been to.” Some are luring him to uncharted lands with appeals like, “No move here to South Dakota.” A few Philly and Chicago fans also launched subtle campaigns in the comments section.
Shaq is sporting an undersized tiger hat in this post. But the atmosphere made many miss that detail only to comment, “omg when did he wear that hat, I don’t remember that at all.”
If he’s moving to the capital, fans believe it would be worth it if Shaq makes a shot for the top office. Chants of “diesel for president” took over the polls in the comments. It’s unlikely that O’Neal would leave Atlanta though now that his daughter has moved closer.

But he’s promising to go wherever fans want. For those who’re expecting the next DJ Diesel festival, he’s going to amp up the Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas with Shaq’s Fun House.
