Love really does come around when you least expect it. Especially for Shaunie Henderson and Keion. After her highly publicized split from Shaquille O’Neal, Shaunie had her guard up. Her memoir, Undefeated, stands as a testament. But surprisingly, Keion might’ve been even more hesitant than her. In fact, just last year, he opened up about those early moments on the TMI Podcast, “She was fine…I wasn’t okay.” That honest confession shows just how much healing he had to do before letting love in again.

Still, things found their way. By 2019, they began dating, both nursing fresh wounds from previous marriages. Shaunie had been divorced since 2011, while Keion was freshly out of his own marriage. But they stuck together. And now, on May 28, 2025, they mark six years together and three years as husband and wife.

Naturally, Shaunie marked the occasion with a sweet Instagram post. She shared a video montage of their best memories together—traveling on yachts, dancing at parties, and just doing life hand-in-hand. Her caption said it all: “Happy Anniversary to my forever Love. @pastorkeion Here’s to many more years of getting to do life with you. 🥰 I thank God for you ❤”

Her montage felt intimate and genuine, and Keion had his own way of showing love. And he didn’t hold back. “Thank you, you sweet sexy thang you,” he wrote under Shaunie’s post, melting hearts in the comments.

The Lighthouse Church’s official IG also honored the couple; they posted, “Happy Anniversary to the pillars of The Lighthouse Church and Ministries, Pastor Keion and First Lady Shaunie Henderson.” To top it all, they added a touching note: “Your love, partnership, and divine purpose continue to inspire and anchor all of us who are journeying in faith… May your union be richly blessed as you continue to lead with unwavering grace and boldness. TLHC 💙’s YOU!!!”

It’s wild to think that years ago, Keion was certain he’d never get married.

Keion fell for Shaunie Henderson despite his doubts

Pastor Keion Henderson didn’t just walk into Shaunie’s life—he admitted on the TMI Podcast that he arrived “defeated,” fresh out of a painful divorce and swearing off marriage forever. Shaunie, meanwhile, had spent nearly a decade single after finalizing her split from Shaquille O’Neal in 2011, channeling her energy into launching Basketball Wives and penning her debut memoir, Undefeated.

And Keion didn’t hold back about where he stood back then. “I actually met her defeated. I’d just come out of a divorce. She had been single, I believe at the time 10-11 years, and so when I met her, I was still like…I told her out the gate, I said, look, we can kick it.” In fact, he’d made a firm promise to himself—and to Shaunie. “I ain’t never get married again, I told her, I ain’t never getting married again. I’m not going through that again, I don’t want to do it.”

But here’s where things took a turn. Instead of being offended, Shaunie hit him with a cheeky response. She flipped the script and asked why he assumed she’d even want to marry him in the first place. That moment might’ve planted the first seed that things could actually work between them.

Fast forward two years, and love proved stronger than any vow. In 2021, Keion popped the question. And by May 28, 2022, they were officially husband and wife in a stunning ceremony in Anguilla.
