DJ Diesel is about to dominate Kansas City. The highlight of the Big 12 basketball tournaments – the Power & Light District Fan Fest – will be headlined by the 7’1″ EDM titan, Shaquille O’Neal himself. The P&L Fan Fest will run through both the women’s and men’s Big 12 tournaments. About 300,000 spectators are estimated at the tournaments and at least 100,000 fans will get to see Shaq perform live.

Playing to crowds this large doesn’t make Shaq nervous. This is the second year in a row he’s leading the P&L Fan Fest. He’s already performed to thousands in Lost Lands, Lollapalooza, and even his own EDM festival Bass All-Stars.

The tournaments start on March 7 and will run until March 23. Shaq’s 45-minute dubstep event will take place on Saturday, March 16 after the Men’s Championship game. While the game will be inside the T-Mobile Center, the EDM event will be outside. LC Danger will be the opening act before the NBA legend takes the Kansas City Live! Stage of the Power & Light District at 9 p.m. local time.

Perhaps the big man would have sporadic appearances during the tournament too. His set will however be a free 21 and older concert. Organizers are anticipating crowds from Lawrence and Manhattan as well as Orlando, Morgantown, and Provo college towns in Kansas City for the tournaments. They’ve pulled out all stops to make this a major fan experience, including Shaq’s live stage, Kansas City Live!, pep rallies, contests, and giveaways.

Along with Shaq, more artists are participating in the T-Mobile Center event. Before DJ Diesel, another New Jersey product, Breland will sing the national anthem before the Mens Championship Game. Lanie Gardner will open the Womens Championship Game with the national anthem.

All Fan Fest activities are free of cost. Details are available on event websites. Amping the Big 12’s entertainment factor is its continuing partnership with WWE. We know Shaq is a huge fan. He’s going to be a tad jealous of the winners of the Most Outstanding Player of both the Men’s and Women’s Championship who will receive the WWE x Big 12 Championship Title Belt.
