As a teenager, Shaquille O’Neal worked for Burger King

The Big Aristotle was smitten by the same Michael Jordan dream that every young player had. Like every other teenager, the 13-year-old O’Neal desired a pair of Air Jordans. However, his father refused to buy him anything unless he worked hard for it.

Just like the legend himself, his stepfather, Sgt. Phillip Harrison was very strict with his children. He wanted his son (Shaquille O’Neal) to understand the value of money and work hard to earn it on his own. By doing so, the Big Aristotle’s father engraved in him another value that the legend still reflects on.

The big man mentioned in his book, “My father said, ‘I’m not buying you anything unless you work for it. So, you go out and get a job or you are going to work for me.’
