Shaquille O’Neal only needed two words to sum up his heartfelt emotions for a special someone. Even if those two words are all he knows in the certain someone’s native language. Anuel AA has been the object of Shaq’s affection since their first encounter at an All-Star game.

Since then, O’Neal has seized the opportunity to profess his feelings. “Te Amo,” he succinctly commented in Anuel’s live stream confirming he was watching the Puerto Rican hitmaker’s broadcast. Is this confirmation of Shaq’s latest ‘bromantic’ relationship?

This bromance began blossoming when Anuel was seated right next to Shaq at the 2023 All-Star weekend. Fans caught it on camera when the 7’1″ giant asked him to give him space to move to his seat.

Later, the bling-bearing rapper flaunted his rings and superstar company on Instagram. That simple, “NBA All-Star Weekend,” and tagging Shaq underlined the funny pictures of Anuel stuck in Shaq’s jacket.

It was a long time coming for this musician with a passion for basketball. But these one-sided professions of love are not the only connection Anuel has with Big Diesel.

Shaquille O’Neal and Anuel are fated

Anuel AA took his love for the sport to the next level by becoming the owner of the Puerto Rican basketball team, Capitanes de Arecibo in 2021 along with his manager. Throw in his sightings at NBA games and he’s an effective rep for a sports brand.

That’s why it made sense when Anuel and Reebook announced their partnership in June 2023. In October 2023, Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson were announced as the president and VP respectively of the basketball division at Reebok.

Now we also know that Shaq urged Authentic Brands Group, of which he is the second largest shareholder, to acquire Reebok from Adidas in 2021. Did he also have input in signing Anuel before his executive role, no one knows. On Anuel’s part, he called himself a “lifelong fan of Reebok.”
