Does Shaunie Henderson have any regrets? It seems so. As a high school student, she had very humble dreams, like working at the famous Hot Dog On A Stick. But looking back at her dreams when she was a teenager, Henderson, who is Shaquille O’Neal‘s ex-wife, found faults in her old mindset.

Today, she is the author of ‘Undefeated, Changing the Rules and Winning on My Own Terms’. But back in the day, she wouldn’t have thought of such a huge accomplishment and that’s why, when she appeared on 979THEBOX on May 24, she shared thoughts about her success.

“I was like I want to work at Hot Dog On A Stick so bad. You thought, you know, all the cute girls worked at hot [Hot Dog on a stick], y’all know, you got it was a little [clothes]. Little shorts… It was real cute. And that was my goal. Like girl, you know what I mean, being 16-17. That was like- If I do that. But here I am signing my book in that same place that was the highlight of my life to be at working in a fast food place.”

However, her dream of working at fast-food chains also came from her love for fast food. Well, yes, and did you know she loves the Fish-O-Fillet at McDonald’s?

Further in the discussion, she stated, I had small dreams growing up, like even as an adult I think I just had small dreams like I remember thinking, ‘let me go to like McDonald’s, maybe I’ll own a McDonald’s, which is great. But that was it. Like let me open up a nail shop, which is great, but that was it.”

Thinking about owning a small part of the $184 billion franchise made her happy back then. But now, as an influencer who constantly urges her followers to have big dreams, the 49-year-old feels ashamed about how she was limiting herself. “Here I am telling people dream big like have these ginormous dreams and if you just get a little of it, you’ve succeeded. But to think so small I’m like ashamed of myself that I had those small dreams.”

However, what’s interesting is that her ex-husband, Shaq, also loves fast food and owns several such businesses. As per the information available, he owns about nine Papa John’s, a Krispy Kreme place, and a Big Chicken restaurant that is being franchised. Could Shaq’s success have opened up Henderson’s eyes? Possibly.

Moving on from her wish to work at a fast food place, Henderson landed her first job as a film marketer at Fox Entertainment. Continuing on the role is how the now-entrepreneur met Shaq. Maybe things turned out for the better, but Shaunie Henderson believes her mindset on dreams would be the one thing she would change if she were given an opportunity. “Think bigger.” But her success so far cannot be denied.
