Widely considered the most dominant player coming out of college, Shaq was selected first overall by the Orlando Magic in the 1992 NBA Draft. He instantly transformed the Magic, leading them to their first playoff appearance in franchise history during his rookie season.
Shaq’s dominance continued throughout his career. He won the NBA Rookie of the Year award in 1993 and was named NBA MVP in 2000. However, his championship aspirations were not fulfilled until he teamed up with the young Kobe Bryant on the Los Angeles Lakers in 1996. Together, they formed a formidable duo, famously nicknamed “The Show,” leading the Lakers to three consecutive NBA championships.

After his stint with the Lakers, Shaq played for the Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Boston Celtics, adding another NBA championship ring with the Heat in 2006. He retired from basketball in 2011.
