The 2024 McDonald’s All-American Game will tip off on April 2 but the O’Neals have already descended in Houston as 24 of the best female basketball players from across the nation prepare for the biggest game of their high school careers. The one to watch this year is Me’Arah, the youngest of Shaquille O’Neal’s six kids. As the girls prepared for the game, Me’Arah’s brother was watching too closely and needed to be kept in check.

Shareef O’Neal was at Me’Arah’s all-star event and had an update on it. After a series of posts about his time in Houston, he shared a clip of Me’Arah’s practice and his sister watching him from the paint. The “Proud Brother” shared that on his Instagram Stories with an earnest, “Bro stop looking at me.”

Meezy reshared the post to let him know she was seeing, not looking. She wrote a lighthearted apology, “my fault twin couldn’t even tell it was you till 45 seconds after lollll.” This is true sibling energy.

But the heartwarming family love is standing out. Shareef seemingly crashed his other sister, Amirah’s little Easter hangout while he was there. The siblings are also Me’Arah’s guests during the McDonald’s All-American festivities. Amirah too was ecstatically telling everyone, “That’s that girl right there,” while Me’Arah was honored on stage among the others in the 2024 class. Unlike Shareef, she doesn’t get any sassy comebacks from the 17-year-old.

There has been a lack of sightings of a certain 7’1″ giant so far. But Shaunie Henderson has not missed a single second of it.

The next big O’Neal: Me’Arah

The game will be held at the Toyota Center, home of the Houston Rockets. Me’Arah will be playing for the West. The Episcopal High standout is ranked no. 33 in the country and no. 4 in the state of Texas. The Gator-bound star is also a state champion. Currently listed as 6’4″, she averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.5 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game at her school and won Episcopal’s first state title since 1988.

She is repeating her dad’s 1989 achievement with this game and was named MVP. But it was Shareef’s selection in the Jordan Brand Classic that inspired Meezy to make McDonald’s All-American her goal. While Shareef and Shaqir also play basketball, Meezy has one-upped them as neither was in this game during their high school careers.

Me’Arah, though, is determined to go beyond that O’Neal name. Something that is explored in her SportsCenter profile, Me’Arah O’Neal: Out of the Shadow that aired on Sunday. Come Tuesday, she’s going to be the star.
