It takes a lot to even dare to duet with an EGOT legend. Fortunately, for the O’Neal fam, they’re bursting with the confidence to crash a performance. Shaquille O’Neal has an annual tradition of barging in on the performer’s set at his annual fundraiser. Now his kids are following in his footsteps just the same. Thanks to his ex-wife, we have a rare glimpse of one of his daughters belting out some high notes during the family’s charity night.

There are two things characteristic of The Event. First, Shaq always curates a star-studded lineup of his celebrity friends. Second, Shaq always crashes their performances. Both happened this year in more ways than one.

EGOT stars, John Legend and Jennifer Hudson were the main attractions. Both got through their acts while it was Anderson .Paak who was forced to duet with Big Diesel. Hudson though did have a moment with a different O’Neal.

In the clip, she had a pressing question for her followers. “Who sung it better? Jennifer Hudson or my daughter Mimi?” Apparently, Mimi has Shaq’s basketball skills as well as his singing skills.
Hudson was remarkable at getting Amirah involved too. Shaunie may be teasing her but she responded to one of his Instagram friends with, “that’s my baby and I’m stickin ba’side her.“

O’Neal’s kids were also present at The Event cheering their dad. The youngest of the brood, Me’Arah O’Neal flaunted her time in Sin City on Instagram before. This time she’s reliving her sister’s musical moment.
Me’Arah could only muster an “oh my god” with crying emojis under her mom’s post. She would return with just more laughter emojis.
Even Shaunie’s husband, Pastor Keion Henderson couldn’t resist chiming in with, “She actually got up there,” with laughing emojis. We can picture the family bringing it up in person to tease Mimi some more. As if Anderson Paak didn’t outshine Shaq that same night.
