Shaquille O’Neal is taking charge of Reebok’s resurgence in a major way. “Reebok had two big stars back in the day, me and Allen Iverson,” Shaq recalls, highlighting the brand’s golden era. “But Reebok has been out of the game for a while,” he adds, signaling his intention to bring Reebok back to prominence. In typical Shaq fashion, he’s appointed Allen Iverson as his “Vice President” of Reebok Basketball. “You like that one, don’t you, there?” he jokes to his longtime friend and fellow Reebok legend. Together, with Shareef O’Neal’s help, they’re determined to restore Reebok’s status in the competitive sneaker market.

The comeback story finds its perfect platform on Netflix, where cameras capture Shaq’s bold revival strategy in action. “Two things that Reebok needs to do to get back into the competitive space. One, this shoe has to be incredible. I ain’t gonna let you touch it with my hand. It’s a new wave right here, Jack.” But he knows footwear alone isn’t enough “a shoe is nothing without a great player.” The documentary frames Reebok’s return as more than a product launch, it’s a cultural movement, with Shaq and Iverson leading the charge to reclaim their place in sneaker history.

Caught in the middle of this high-stakes comeback, Shareef O’Neal shared a pivotal moment on his Instagram story, simply captioning it: “My Netflix debut” with a laughing emoji. The clip captures his father, Shaq, passing the torch in no uncertain terms: “I know I’m gonna need some help. And you’re gonna be my help.” Shareef, torn between his own NBA aspirations and family duty, responds with quiet honesty: “Got you. This is kind of a weird time for me to help my dad because I’m also trying to get into the NBA.” It’s a raw snapshot of legacy, pressure, and loyalty. All colliding in real time.

While keeping his NBA dreams on a pause, despite the timing, Shareef O’Neal rises to the occasion. As the trailer builds to a bold close, the statement is clear: “We’re back. Back like we left something, man.” The final punch? Shaq doesn’t mince words: “It’s not gonna be easy relaunching Reebok. We’re going up against some major brands. However, we own your a**.”

Shareef O’Neal’s Journey And The Next Chapter…

Shareef O’Neal’s basketball journey has been anything but ordinary. The son of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, Shareef entered the spotlight as a 4-star high school recruit, committing first to UCLA before transferring to LSU, his father’s alma mater. But his path took a dramatic turn in 2018 when he underwent open-heart surgery to correct a congenital defect, derailing his momentum during a pivotal developmental phase. His college career never fully took off, with limited minutes and inconsistent production at both UCLA and LSU, averaging under 3 points per game.

Despite going undrafted in 2022, Shareef persisted, joining the Lakers’ Summer League team and later the G League Ignite, where he showed flashes of potential but struggled to secure a permanent NBA role. A brief Exhibit 10 deal with the Sacramento Kings in 2024 ended with him being waived and reassigned to their G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Shaq and Iverson really bring Reebok back to its former glory in today's sneaker world?

Yet, Shareef’s future remains intriguing. On the court, he could still carve out a professional career. Whether through a two-way NBA contract, overseas opportunities, or a late breakout in the G League. Off the court, his role in Netflix’s Reebok revival docuseries, alongside his father and Allen Iverson, positions him as a rising figure in sneaker culture and sports business.

Could Shareef follow a hybrid path, balancing playing aspirations with brand-building like Dwyane Wade’s son Zaire? With Reebok’s relaunch in full swing, his name, legacy, and newfound media presence may open doors beyond the hardwood. The next chapter of his journey, whether in basketball, business, or both…is still being written.
